General details
If you generate a credit note from a source document (such as a sales invoice), its general details are automatically prefilled. You can edit them.

Field | Description |

Customer | A customer that a credit note is created for. The customer list is based on the Counterparties catalog filtered by counterparty with the Customer account type. If required, you can clear the filter to view the full list of counterparties. |
Contract | A customer's contract. When you specify a contract, its billing details apply to a credit note. This prefills the credit note's Prices and currency settings. It is available if contracts are applicable to the customer (the Contracts checkbox is selected on the customer's card). |
Base document | The original document that accounts receivable adjustment is related to. For example, a sales invoice that a discount was originally granted for. This field is prefilled if you generate a credit note from another document. It is recommended that you edit this field only if you are creating a credit note from scratch. After you select a base document, you can click to populate its data to the credit note. The Base document field is available if a credit note's Operation is Discount allowed or Sales return. |
Adjustment amount, incl. tax | The amount by which accounts receivable are adjusted. For example, a discount amount. It is in the currency specified in the credit note's Prices and currency settings, in the Document field of the Currency section. This field is only available if a credit note's Operation is Discount allowed or Accounts receivable adjustments. |
Total adjustment | The amount to reduce a customer's debt to your company due to return of purchased products. It is automatically filled according to the content of the base document. You cannot edit it. It is in the currency specified in the credit note's Prices and currency settings, in the Document field of the Currency section. This field is only available if a credit note's Operation is Sales return. |
Tax % | VAT rate. |
Tax | VAT amount. It is in the currency specified in the credit note's Prices and currency settings, in the Document field of the Currency section. In credit notes with the Sales return operation, the Tax field is for reference purposes only. In credit notes with other operations, it is used for recording VAT output. |
Number | The credit note ID. It is automatically generated when you post the credit note. You can edit it. You can find credit notes by ID in the Credit notes list. |
Date | Date of the credit note's register records. By default, it is the date of the document's creation. |
Operation | An operation that a credit note records. |
Company | The company that issues a credit note. The company list is based on the Companies catalog. This field is only available if the Manage multiple companies checkbox is selected in Settings > Company. |
VAT ID | The company's VAT identification number. This field is only available if both of the following conditions are met:

GL account | A GL account for recording the amount of accounts receivable adjustment. The GL account list is based on the Primary chart of accounts. The GL account field is available if both of the following conditions are met:

Warehouse | A company's warehouse the products are returned to. The warehouse list is based on the Warehouses catalog. This field is only available if both of the following conditions are met:

Storage bin | A company's storage bin the returned products were originally shipped from. The storage bin list includes the storage bins of the selected warehouse. This field is only available if both of the following conditions are met:

Register expense | Indicates whether an expense item is applied for recording accounts receivable adjustment. This field is only available if both of the following conditions are met:

Expense item for adjustment | An expense item for recording accounts receivable adjustment. The list of items is based on the Income and expense items catalog. This field is only available if a credit note's Operation is Accounts receivable adjustments and either of the following conditions is met:

Prices and currency | A link to the settings specifying the currency, price, and tax that apply to a credit note. These settings are applied to fill prices, tax, and amounts in the credit note. By default, the settings are populated from the billing details of the specified customer. You can edit them. |
