Registering price types
To register a price type:
- Go to Sales.
- Under Catalogs, click Price types.
- In the Price types list, click Create.
The Price types (create) window is displayed. - Specify the general details of a price type:
Field Description Description A short description of a price type. For example, a wholesale price. Inclusive | Exclusive Indicates whether VAT is included in prices based on the price type.
It is available if, for least one of the companies, the accounting policy states that the company is registered for VAT (the Registered for VAT checkbox is selected on the Finance tab of the accounting policy).Currency A currency that applies to prices based on the price type.
It is available if Pricing method is other than Base price-plus dynamic.
A list of currencies is based on the Currencies catalog.Company The company that uses this price type. You will be able to apply the price type to documents and contracts with this company. To indicate that all companies use the price type, keep the Company field blank. - On the Pricing strategy tab, enter or select the following:
Field Description Pricing method A method that determines how to price products and services in sales documents. You have the following options: - Manual. You specify prices manually. You can recalculate them when needed. To specify prices, use the Pricing document. To recalculate prices, use the Prices setup tool.
- Base price-plus static. You set a base price type and markup percentage. As a result, product prices include the base price and markup. Prices are calculated only when you set them. You can recalculate prices when needed.
To apply this method to a product:- Register a price type that you want to use as a base price type.
- Set a product price with the base price type.
- Use the Prices setup tool to calculate and set the product price. For this price, select the price type with the Base price-plus static pricing method.
- Base price-plus dynamic. You set a base price type and markup percentage. As a result, product prices include the base price and markup. Prices are calculated every time you add products to sales documents.
To apply this method to a product:- Register a price type that you want to use as a base price type.
- Set a product price with the base price type.
- Formula. You specify a formula. Prices are calculated by this formula every time you add products to sales documents.
- Cost-based, dynamic. You choose either markup or margin percentage. Product prices include this markup or margin. Prices are calculated every time you add products to a sales document.
Base price type A price type of base prices. It is used for calculating prices in sales documents.
It is available if you set the Pricing method to Base price-plus static or Base price-plus dynamic.Markup, % A markup percentage that applies to the base price type. It is used to calculate prices in sales documents.
It is only available if you set the Pricing method to Base price-plus static or Base price-plus dynamic.Formula A formula for calculating product prices in sales documents. You can specify a formula based on price types or numbers connected by arithmetic or logical operators. To specify the formula, click and add formula elements. To add price types and operators, double-click them. You can also manually input numbers in the formula.
To apply a formula based on certain price types, register product prices with these price types. For details, see Pricing document.
It is only available if you set the Pricing method to Formula.Calculate prices based on Indicates whether prices in sales documents are calculated based on markup or margin.
It is only available if you set the Pricing method to Cost-based, dynamic. - On the Note tab, specify additional details about the price type.
- Click Save and close.
