Pricing document
The Pricing document registers product prices effective from the specified date.
Use the Pricing document to manually set a price for one or several products.
Setting product price
To set a product price:
- Do one of the following:
- To set a price for a single product, go to Sales and under Catalogs, click Products. Then select or double-click a product line and click Pricing > Set price. The Pricing (create) window is displayed. It contains the selected product.
- To set prices for multiple products, use one of the following options:
- Go to Sales and under Catalogs, click Products. Then select the product lines while holding down Shift or Ctrl and click Pricing > Set price. The Pricing (create) window with the selected products is displayed.
- Go to Sales and under Catalogs, click Pricing. Then, in the Pricing documents list, click Create.
The Pricing (create) window with blank product list is displayed.
- Specify general details:
Field Description Effective on The date when a product price starts applying to sales documents and price lists. The price applies until a new price becomes effective. Price type A price type from the Price types catalog.
It determines the price currency. - On the Inventory tab, specify products and their prices. If these product details are prefilled, review them and edit if required. To specify the product details, use any of the following options:
- To import the product details from a spreadsheet file, click and follow the data import wizard instructions.
- To specify the product details manually, click Add and enter or select the following:
Field Description Product A product name or short description.
The product list is based on the Products catalog.Variant A product variant that a price applies to.
A price applies to a product when you specify the product variant in a sales document.
A list of variants is based on the Product variants catalog. You can specify a variant if:- The Inventory accounting by variants checkbox is selected in Settings > Purchases / Warehouse > Inventory (products).
- Accounting by variants applies to a product (the Variants checkbox is selected on the product card.
Price A product price. Its currency depends on the selected price type. You can keep a price empty. Empty prices will apply to business documents and Price lists. This is a useful option if you need to prevent prices from autofilling. For example, prices are no longer effective and you want to prevent then from autofilling in business documents.Unit A product unit of measure. A price applies to a product when you specify the unit of measure in a sales document.
- Optional: On the Additional information tab, in the Comment field, enter additional details.
- Click Post and close.
Changing product prices
To change a price for a product, create a new pricing document, specify a new price and its effective date. For details, see Setting product prices.
To change product prices in bulk, use the Prices setup tool. To open it, go to Sales and under Tools, click Prices setup.
Note. The new price does not automatically apply to the existing sales documents. If you want to update the price in an existing sales document, open the document. Then open its Prices and currency settings and refill the price.
