Prices setup tool

The Prices setup tool registers a pricing document with product prices effective from the specified date.

Use the tool to automatically register or change product prices in bulk according to the selected rule. To do this:

  1. Go to Sales.
  2. Under Tools, click Prices setup.
     The Prices setup tool is displayed.
  3. In the Company field, select a company from the Companies catalog. For new prices, you will be able to select a price type used in this company.
  4. In the Step 1: Select price type section, select a price type for the new prices.
  5. In the Step 2: Select products section, specify the products to set new prices for. Do one of the following:
  6. In the Step 3: Edit prices section, specify a price calculation rule for the specified products and click Execute.
    Prices are calculated and filled in the New price field of the Step 2: Select products section.
    Note. To fill in the required prices, you can specify and execute several rules, one after another. For example, first, add a certain amount to the current price. Then, increase the new price by certain percentage value.
  7. To set the calculated prices, in the Step 4: Save prices section, in the Takes effect on field, specify the date from which the new prices will apply to sales documents and price lists. Then click Set.
  8. Click Close.

A pricing document with the new prices is created. You can view and edit them in the product price history.

Note. When setting a price for a product that has variants, you may additionally specify a price for each variant. If you do not, the price applies to all variants of the products.

Filling in products automatically

In the Prices setup tool, you need to specify products to set new prices for.

To fill in products automatically:

  1. In the Prices setup tool, in the Step 2: Select products section, click Fill in.
  2. In the displayed window, select an option indicating how to fill in products:

    Add by price type effective onFills in products that have prices with a certain price type and effective date. For this option, select the price type and date.
     The price type list is based on the Price types catalog.
    Add by empty prices of price typeFills in products that do not have prices with a certain price type and effective date. For this option, select the price type and date.
     The price type list is based on the Price types catalog.
    Add by product groupFills products from a certain product group. For this option, select a product group.
    Add by supplier invoiceFills products from a certain supplier invoice. For this option, select a supplier invoice.
    Add by price groupFills in products with a certain price group. For this option, select a price group.
    Use variantsIndicates whether the product variants are filled in. This is an additional setting. It can apply to any option above, except Add by supplier invoice.
     The setting is available if the Inventory accounting by variants checkbox is selected in Settings > Purchases / Warehouse, under Inventory (products).
  3. Click Add.

Products and their prices are filled in. The prices are displayed in the currency of the price type selected for the new prices. By default, new prices match current prices. Continue to specify the price calculation rule for the new prices or change them manually.

Adding products manually

In the Prices setup tool, you need to specify products to set prices for.

To add products manually:

  1. In the Prices setup tool, in the Step 2: Select products section, click Add.
  2. Specify or review the following:
    FieldDescription
    ProductA product name or short description.
     The product list is based on the Products catalog.
    VariantA product variant that a price applies to.
     A list of variants is based on the Product variants catalog. You can specify a variant if:
    • The Inventory accounting by variants checkbox is selected in Settings > Purchases / Warehouse > Inventory (products).
    • Accounting by variants applies to a product (the Variants checkbox is selected on the product card.
    Current priceA product price effective on the current date. It is not editable.
     This price is populated from a product's pricing document. You can check it in the product price history.
    New priceA new product price. It is automatically filled in after you specify and apply the price calculation rule. If required, you can edit it.
    UnitA product unit of measure.
     By default, it is populated from the product card. If the product comes in various units, you can select another unit. This recalculates the new product price according to the conversion rate specified for the product unit.

Specifying price calculation rule

In the Prices setup tool, you can specify a rule to automatically calculate and fill in new prices for the selected products. To do this:

  • In the Step 3: Edit prices section, in the Fill in prices field, specify one of the following rules:
RuleDescription
By pricesFor each product, fill in a price with a certain price type and effective date. For this rule, select a price type and effective date.
By counterparty pricesFor each product, fill in a counterparty's price with a certain price type and effective date. For this rule, select a price type and effective date.
By supplier invoiceFor each product, fill in a price from a certain supplier invoice. For this rule, select a supplier invoice.
Calculate...For each product, fill in a price including a base price and markup percent and effective on the selected date. This rule is applicable if you set new prices with the price type where Pricing method is Base price-plus static.
 After you select the Calculate... rule, the base price type and markup percent appear. They are populated from the settings of the price type selected for the new prices in the Step 1: Select price type section. They are not editable. To complete the rule, in the effective on field, select the effective date of the base price. By default, it is the current date.
RoundingFor each product, fill in a price by rounding the current product price. For the rule:
  1. In the Rounding procedure field, select a number indicating how to round the current price. For example, 100 indicates the current price is rounded to a number that is a multiple of 100.
  2. To round the current price to the nearest bigger number, select the Round up checkbox. To round the current price to the nearest smaller number, clear the Round up checkbox. For example, Rounding procedure is 100 and the current price is 101. If the checkbox is selected, the new price is 200. If the checkbox is cleared, then the new price is 100.
Add or subtract amountFor each product, fill in a price by increasing or reducing the current product price by a certain amount. For this rule, select "+" or "-" to indicate that the amount is added to or subtracted from the current product price. Then, In the Amount field, enter the amount.
Change to %For each product, fill in a price by increasing or reducing the current product price by certain percentage value. For this rule, select "+" or "-" to indicate that the percentage value is added to or substracted from the current product price. Then, enter the percentage value.

Note. To fill in the required prices, you can specify and execute several rules, one after another. For example, first, add a certain amount to the current price. Then, increase the new price by certain percentage value.
