Closing sales orders

You might need to stop processing a sales order for a certain reason. For example, a customer cancels the order. Then you can close the order.

After the sales order is closed, you cannot generate other business documents based on it.

To close a sales order:

  1. Go to Sales.
  2. Under Sales, click Sales orders.
  3. In the Sales orders list, do either of the following:
    • Double-click a sales order line. Then, next to the Lifecycle status field of the sales order, click Close order.
    • Select a sales order line. If you need to close multiple sales orders in one click, select their lines while holding down Shift or Ctrl. Then, click Close orders.

The sales order lifecycle status is set to one of the following

  • Completed if predefined and custom statuses are applied (the Several sales order statuses checkbox is selected in Settings > Sales)..
  • Canceled if only predefined statuses are applied (the Several sales order statuses checkbox is cleared in Settings > Sales).

In the Sales orders list, the Relevance column shows a check mark tick.png.

For the closed sales orders, the goods ordered but not yet shipped are canceled. The goods reservations are removed. The customer’s balance is not adjusted automatically.

You can also close sales orders using the Orders closing tool.
