Production process
Production is a process where a company manufactures a product by processing and combining the components in a sequence of technological operations.
The process steps may vary depending on your company's business needs. In general, the process starts with a production order and ends with a production document that reflects actual product manufacturing.
1C:Drive supports the following process steps:
- Set up Production process.
- Issue production orders.
- Monitor production order statuses.
- Generate work-in-progress documents.
- Create production tasks.
- Record employees' hours spent on production operations.
- Check component availability.
- Replenish components.
- Manufacture products.
Setting up Production process
Before registering your production transactions, do the following:
- Enable production functionality.
To do it, go to Settings. Then, under Accounting settings, click Production and select the Enable Production subsystem checkbox. - If you are planning to manufacture new products or consume new components, register them in the Products catalog.
You also have the following options:- If you want to differentiate products or components by characteristics such as color or size, set up product variants.
- If you want to track product batches, set up batches.
- If you want to track serial numbers of product units, set up serial numbers.
- If you want to schedule or monitor completion of production orders, go to Settings. Then, under Accounting settings, click Production and select the Use production planning checkbox.
- If you are planning to use custom statuses for production orders, go to Settings. Then, under Accounting settings, click Production and select the Several Production order statuses checkbox.
Issuing production orders
When you want your company to manufacture products from components, issue a production order for the products. To register this step, create a production order.
Monitoring production order statuses
To ensure that you fulfill the production orders fully and on time, do any of the following:
- Monitor production order statuses in the Production orders list.
- View Production status report or Production orders statement.
Generating work-in-progress documents
Create one or several work-in-progress (WIP) documents. A work-in-progress document records operations to be performed and components to be consumed in order to manufacture a single product, so you need to create one WIP per product.
Creating production tasks
If you want to split execution of production operations between several employees or teams, create related production tasks. Then, each employee can register progress of their production tasks in real time using a mobile device.
Recording employees' hours spent on production operations
This step applies if you need to record and track time that employees spend on completing production operations, and calculate payroll per completed operation. For details on payroll, see Payroll process.
To record hours that employees spent to complete production operations, create a work timesheet. In the work timesheet, include employees, specify work-in-progress documents that contain production operations, and enter hours spent on these operations. For details, see Creating work timesheets.
You can create work timesheets only if the Enable Payroll subsystem checkbox is selected in Settings > Payroll.
Checking component availability
After creating the WIP documents, check whether all components are available at your warehouses.
If this step is not necessary (for example, if the components are guaranteed to be always available), skip this step and proceed to manufacturing the products.
Replenishing components
If some of the components are not available, replenish the missing components.
Manufacturing products
To register the actual production, create a production document.
