Work schedules catalog
A work schedule defines working days and hours of a company, its work centers or employees.
A work schedule is a source of data for filling in the following:
- The availability schedules of work centers.
- The individual work schedules of employees.
Work schedules are based on business calendars.
To manage work schedules, go to Company > Enterprise > All catalogs > Company > Work schedules. You can do the following:
- View work schedules
- Create work schedules
- Copy work schedules
- Edit work schedules
- Group work schedules
Viewing work schedules
To view work schedules:
- Go to Company > Enterprise > All catalogs > Company > Work schedules.
The Work schedules list shows the details of available work schedules. The details can vary depending on the list settings. By default, the following details are available:
- Description. A work schedule name or short description.
- Business calendar. A business calendar that is a basis for a work schedule.
- Filling method. A method for filling in the work schedule. One of the following:
- By weeks. Working days and hours are filled in for each week within the scheduling period.
- By periods. Working days and hours are filled in for each work cycle of specified length within the scheduling period.
- Details. Additional information about a work schedule.
To view a work schedule:
- Double-click a work schedule line.
Creating work schedules
You can create one or several work schedules depending on your business needs. For instance, a common work schedule for the entire company, or a separate work schedule for each work center in the company.
To create a work schedule:
- Go to Company > Enterprise > All catalogs > Company > Work schedules.
- Click Create.
- Enter or select the following:
Field Description Description A work schedule name or short description. Fill in schedule from...to The scheduling period. The work schedule will be filled in for this period. Specify the start date and end date of this period.
If you keep the end date empty, the work schedule is filled in up to the end of the year.Business calendar The business calendar that the work schedule is based on.
Working days, weekends, holidays, and other non-working days will be filled in the work schedule according to this business calendar.
Ensure that you specify a filled in business calendar. To learn more, see Creating business calendars.Filling method A method for filling in the work schedule. Either of the following: - By weeks. Working days and hours are filled in for each week within the Schedule filling period.
- By periods. Working days and hours are filled in for each work cycle of specified length within Schedule filling period.
To use this option, specify the number of days in a cycle and the work cycle start date.
For instance, a company operates 3 consecutive days followed by 1 day off. This work pattern starts on January 1, 2020 and repeats up to the end of the year. Then the number of days in a work cycle is 4. The work cycle start date is 01.01.2020. Schedule is filled from 01.01.2020 to 31.12.2020.
Template A schedule template for filling in working days and hours within a week or work cycle depending on the selected Filling method.
To learn how to fill in this template, see Filling in schedule template.Skip holidays Indicates whether working days exclude dates marked in the business calendar as: - Saturday
- Sunday
- Holiday
- Non-working
If you select this checkbox, the work schedule is automatically updated each time the business calendar is edited.Preholiday schedule A link for filling in working hours on dates that precede dates marked as holidays in the business calendar. Fill in these working hours if they differ from your company’s regular working hours. For instance, preholiday working hours can be shorter than the regular ones.
The link is only available if the Skip holidays checkbox is selected.Details Additional information about this work schedule. - Click Resulting schedule and review the filled in work schedule. The following colors apply to dates:
- Black for working days.
- Red for non-working days.
- Do one of the following:
- If the work schedule is correct, click Save and close.
- If you want to edit the work schedule, do any of the following:
- To change a date type from a working day to a non-working or vice versa, double-click a date. The date turns red or black depending on the target date type.
Note. To quickly revert the changes, click Fill in by template. The original work schedule settings will be applied.
When you finish changing date types, click Save and close.
- To change the work schedule settings, at the bottom of the window, click Schedule settings and edit the settings. Then go back to steps 4-5.
- To change a date type from a working day to a non-working or vice versa, double-click a date. The date turns red or black depending on the target date type.
Filling in schedule template
The schedule template includes weekdays or a work cycle days depending on the selected Filling method. Work cycle days are shown as numbers. Each number is a day’s sequence number. For instance, 1 is the first day of a work cycle.
In the schedule template, you can specify any of the following:
- Working days.
- Working days and working hours for them.
This option is recommended if you want to be able to automatically fill in work centers availability schedules for production planning. To learn more, see Setting up work centers availability.
To specify working days, select checkboxes for them.
To specify working days and working hours for them, do the following for each working day:
- Click Fill in the schedule.
- In the Work schedule window, click Add.
- Specify the following:
- Start. A working day’s start time.
- End. A working day’s end time.
Note. If a working day includes breaks (such as a lunch break), add as many working intervals as needed.
- Click OK.
For the working days that have working time specified, checkboxes are automatically selected and the text of the Fill in the schedule link is changed to show the number of working hours.
To change a working day to a non-working day, clear the checkbox for this day.
Copying work schedules
You can copy and modify an existing work schedule instead of creating one from scratch.
To copy a work schedule:
- Go to Company > Enterprise > All catalogs > Company > Work schedules.
- In the Work schedules list, select a work schedule that you want to copy.
- Click
.
- Edit the copied work schedule as described in Creating work schedules.
Editing work schedules
You can edit a single work schedule, or bulk edit multiple work schedules at once.
Editing a single work schedule
To edit a work schedule:
- Go to Production > Catalogs > Work schedules.
- In the Work schedules list, select a work schedule.
- Edit the work schedule details as described in Creating work schedules.
Note. If a work schedule is assigned to a work center involved in production planning, you might need to update the work center availability schedule and reschedule operations for production orders.
Editing multiple work schedules
To bulk edit multiple work schedules:
- Go to Production > Catalogs > Work schedules.
- In the Work schedules list, select several work schedules while holding down Ctrl or Shift.
- Click Edit selected.
- Select attributes to change and specify new values for them.

- Click Edit attributes to apply the changes to each selected work schedule.
Note. Changes made in the bulk edit mode are reversible. To roll back any change made in this mode, during step 4, click Change history and select a value to roll back to.
Grouping work schedules
If you have multiple work schedules, it can be hard to navigate through the Work schedules list. To make navigation easier, arrange work schedules into groups.
To create a work schedule group:
- Go to Company > Enterprise > All catalogs > Company > Work schedules.
- Click Create group.
- Enter or select the following:
- Description. A group name or short description.
- Work schedule group. The parent group for the group you are creating.
To create a group at the root level, keep the Work schedule group field blank.
- Select Save and close.
The work schedule group appears as a folder in the Work schedules list. To add work schedules to the group, drag and drop them to this folder.
