Setting up main bill of materials

You can create multiple bills of materials (BOMs) for a single product. For example, you can choose to create a BOM for a product and a separate BOM for each variant of the product. Then you can set the product BOM as the main one. It will be automatically populated in business documents if no other BOM matches a document. This saves time on the data input.

To set up the main bill of materials:

1. Open the Products catalog.
2. Double-click a product line.
3. In the link bar, click Bills of materials.
4. In the Bills of materials list, select a BOM that meets all of the following conditions:
   • Status is Active.
   • Validity period is in effect.
   • Variant is not specified.
5. Click Set as default.

This BOM is set as the main one now.

In the Bills of materials list, the main BOM is displayed in bold.
