Setting headcount budget

To set a headcount budget, add a company's job positions and their details. To do this:

  1. Go to Payroll.
  2. Under HR recordkeeping, click Headcount budget.
    The Headcount budget workplace is displayed.
  3. If multi-company management is set up (the Manage multiple companies checkbox is selected in Settings > Company), in the Company field, select a company to add a job position for. The company list is based on the Companies catalog.
  4. If department management is set up (the Accounting by business units checkbox is selected in Settings > Company), on the workplace left pane, select a department to add a job position for. The department list is based on the Departments catalog.
  5. Do either of the following:
    • To add a job position and its details from scratch, click Create.
    • To save time on the job position details input, copy the existing job position. To do this, on the job positions pane, select a job position line and click copy_icon.png. Then edit the job position details and save the changes. To learn how to do this, see the steps below.
  6. In the Headcount budget (create) window, enter or select the following details:
    Field Description
    Company A company to add a job position for. It is prefilled with the company selected on step 3. You can select another company.
    The field is available if multi-company management is set up (the Manage multiple companies checkbox is selected in Settings > Company).
    Department A department to add a job position for. It is prefilled with the department selected on step 4. You can select another company.
    The field is available if multi-company management is set up (the Accounting by business units checkbox is selected in Settings > Company).
    Position A job position.
    The job position list is based on the Positions catalog.
    Effective date The date when a company can start hiring for the selected job position. Since this date, you can specify the job position in an employment contract.
    By default, it is the current date. You can select another date.
    FTE A full-time equivalent assigned to the selected job position.
  7. In the Pay rate section, select the pay type for the specified job position. Then enter the pay range for the selected pay type. This information is for reference purposes only.
  8. Click Save and close.

Repeat these steps to add as many job positions as you need to include in the headcount budget of a company or a company's department.
