Full-time equivalent (FTE)

An employee's workload coefficient.

FTE indicates the number of employees that can hold a job position in a company. For example, a company has the accountant position with the FTE = 2. This means the company can have two employees with the accountant position.

FTE is applied for calculating the employee's total hours worked and the pay for these hours.

For example, an employee's hourly pay rate is 10, hours worked are 8, and the FTE is 2. This FTE indicates that the employee has a double workload. Then the total hours worked = 8*2 = 16 and the employee's pay = 16*10 = 160.
