Universal processes

With process management functions, you can coordinate corporate personnel within fixed business processes and automate data processing without user involvement.

You can use universal processes for:

• Approval (transaction requests, budgets, contracts, and other system objects).
• Reporting or budget preparation.
• Other processes related to operations in or outside the system (for example, external or internal communications and paper document processing).

In the system, each of the applications has its own process mode with special features and an algorithm for processing steps. All process kinds have a single catalog of route templates and a route designer. Other aspects of process kinds, except for these objects, will be described individually below.

This chapter also covers managing tasks, notifications, and reminders since they are closely related to running processes. You can use these functions even without using the process management subsystem.
