Backflush production

<< Prev   Next >>

Using production orders and production schedule to manage the production process is optional in all cases. This functionality can be unnecessary for some scenarios. Companies often have production business units that do not need to use production orders. Production business units can use such production as the only one or together with production schedule and production orders. You can use the backflush production to record single-stage and multi-stage production processes that are performed by several production units in different accounting periods.

Examples of such cases:

  • Production business unit activities are not technologically advanced.
  • One-off or irregular production.
  • Production business unit activities are supportive or supplementary. The tasks of this unit depend on the needs of other units.

Here, you will learn how to activate functions and create system objects required to fulfill backflush production processes.

Backflush production specifics:

  • You cannot estimate if production capacity is available to manufacture products.
  • You cannot plan material resource supply and check available raw and consumable materials. That is why, in backflush production, only currently available materials are used.
  • You can register assignee labor costs. You can register timesheets charge only within the amount of labor costs that were registered for backflush production. The system does not allow you to transfer labor costs to the next accounting period.
  • When you record the output without production orders, you can register the output only within the amount of labor costs that were previously specified in the Backflush production release documents.
  • You can calculate the cost of output of finished products.
  • You can record material and labor costs for finished products that did not complete a full processing cycle at the end of the accounting period as work-in-progress. Allocate such costs to finished products in the following accounting periods upon their production.
