Here you will learn how to activate all plan profiles of the sales and operations planning subsystem. You can use sales and operations planning for medium-term planning of the enterprise activities. Planning is based on the demand forecasting, analysis and evaluation of available resources, and company's growth prospects. It balances the demand for manufactured products/services of the enterprise with production and purchasing capacities.

Here you can activate the following functions to manage the enterprise:

Aggregate sales planning by product categories
Detailed sales planning by product items
Purchasing planning
Production planning
Kitting / reverse kitting planning
Inventory consumption planning
Planning of remaining goods/materials at warehouses

With sales and operations planning, you can do the following:

Synchronize planned data of sales, purchases, kitting/reverse kitting, and so on between each other.
Control if consumption and demand are equal.
Import/export external source data as a table.

When you configure the system, decide on the functional scope of planning depending on the enterprise sector and automation needs. There are the following standard scenarios to work with sales and operations planning:

Sales forecast → Goods stock plan → Production plan → Inventory consumption plan → Purchase plan. This set of plans is typical for a production enterprise with batch manufacturing (standard manufactured products/services). The capacity of such enterprise depends on external demand and is flexible.
Sales forecast → Production plan → Inventory consumption plan → Purchase plan. This set of plans is typical for a production enterprise with make-to-order manufacturing (non-standard manufactured products/services). The capacity of such enterprise depends on external demand and is flexible.
Production plan → Purchase plan. This set of plans is typical for a production enterprise with make-to-order manufacturing (non-standard manufactured products/services). The enterprise buys materials against orders and external demand usually provides 100% capacity utilization.
Sales forecast → Goods stock plan → Purchase plan. This set of plans is typical for trading a high-turnover item.

Activate Product categories

Here you can enable keeping a list of product categories as large product items to make it easier to manage your enterprise.

You can use product categories to plan sales by product categories and to set sales quotas by categories.

What you can do after activation

Now you can:

Keep the Product categories catalog.
Use the Product category field in the Items catalog item.

Here you can create a list of product categories for each item kind.

1. Open the catalog, select an Item kind for which you want to create a new record of a Product category, and click Create group.

Activate Sales forecasts by categories

Here you can enable creating sales forecasts by categories.

To get information for a sales forecast:

Get forecast data from an external system / service.
Copy data of the previous period and adjust it.

Activate Sales forecasts by items

Here you can enable creating sales forecasts broken down by product items.

To get information for a sales forecast:

Get forecast data from an external system / service.
Split the sales forecast into categories using special standards.
Copy data of the previous period and adjust it.

Here you can enable a list of seasonal groups and special indexes to redistribute sales forecast data.

Seasonal groups of business regions catalog
Seasonal indexes information register

Here you can create a list of seasonal item groups. You can use these groups to keep special seasonal indexes involved in sales planning.

How to create a seasonal item group record

1. Open the catalog and click Create.

2. Specify the Description.

How to specify a financial accounting group for a default item kind

1. Open the Item kinds catalog and open the record.

2. Click Default values and select a Seasonal group.

Activate Kitting schedules

Here you can enable creating kitting schedules and kitting orders by plans.

Here you can enable creating inventory consumption plans. This plan profile covers the amount of materials and services required to perform other auxiliary functions of the enterprise.
