Quotation overview
A quotation is a document that a company sends to a potential customer to offer goods or services at a certain price, under specified conditions.
A quotation is used in the following process:
Process | Document purpose |
---|---|
Quote-to-cash | Record a company's offer to sell goods or services to a customer at a certain price, under specified conditions. |
You can use a quotation as the first document in the quote-to-cash process. For example, you can create and send a quotation to your customer, then create a sales order based on the quotation, then create a sales invoice based on the sales order, then create a payment document based on the sales invoice or the sales order. Alternatively, you can create a payment document directly based on the quotation.
