General details
When you generate a work-in-progress document from a production order, its general details are populated automatically from that document. You can edit them if necessary.
To edit the general details of a work-in-progress document, open the Main tab.

Field | Description |

Status | The lifecycle status of a work-in-progress document. One of the following: - Open. Indicates that the document processing has not started yet. - In progress. Indicates that the document processing is in progress. - Completed. Indicates that the document processing is completed. If Status is set to Completed:

Department | A business unit where operations listed in the WIP document are performed. |
Production order | A production order the products are manufactured for. This field is read-only. |
Product | A manufactured product. This field is read-only. |
Variant | A product characteristic such as color or size. This field is read-only. |
Bill of materials | The bill of materials (BOM) for manufacturing a product. You can quickly fill in the Components and Operations tabs based on this list of materials. To learn more, see Editing components and Editing operations. You can only edit this field if the product contains more than one BOM. |
Quantity | Number of manufactured product items. |
Unit | A product unit of measure. It is prefilled with a base unit from the production order. You can select another unit if a product has additional units. |
Number | A work-in-progress document ID. It is automatically generated when you post the document. You can edit it. You can find work-in-progress documents by ID in the Work-in-progress list. |
Date | The date of a work-in-progress document. |
Company | Your company's name. |
Production method | Method used to manufacture the product. One of the following:

Include in production planning | Indicates whether the work-in-progress document arises from a production order included in the production planning queue. This checkbox is read-only. |
