Monitoring and changing bill of materials statuses
A bill of materials (BOM) has a lifecycle status, which indicates the current step in the BOM processing.
Lifecycle status of each BOM is displayed in the Status column of the Bills of materials list.
To view the list:
- Go to Production.
- Under Catalogs, click Bills of materials.
By default, the following lifecycle statuses are available:
- Open. Indicates that the BOM is a draft. You cannot specify a BOM with this status in business documents. You can edit it.
- Active. Indicates that a BOM is ready for use. You can specify a BOM with this status in business documents if its validity period is in effect (see the Valid from and Valid to fields of the BOM). You cannot edit it.
- Closed. Indicates that a BOM is no longer in use. You cannot specify a BOM with this status in business documents. You cannot edit it.
The lifecycle status of a BOM changes as follows:
- When you create a BOM, its lifecycle status is automatically set to Open.
- When you start or resume using the BOM, manually change the lifecycle status to Active.
- When you temporarily or permanently stop using the BOM, manually change the lifecycle status to Closed.
To change status of a BOM:
- In the Bills of materials list, double-click the BOM.
- Change value of the Status field.
- Click Save and close.
