Common questions on 1C:Drive licensing mechanism
In 1C:Drive version 1.5.5, a new licensing mechanism is introduced in addition to the existing 1C:Enterprise platform licenses. The following articles explain where 1C:Drive licenses can be found and how to activate them:
To provide answers to further questions on the subject, this article explains the logic of 1C:Drive license activation and addresses common questions regarding license management, especially when transferring or creating multiple infobases on the same machine.
What are licenses linked to?
1C:Drive licenses, similar to platform (1C:Enterprise) licenses, are linked to the computer or server where they are activated. These licenses are not connected to the specific infobase where the activation takes place.
There are two types of licenses:
- Multi-user licenses: Activated on the server and shared among users connecting to the server. For instance, a 10-user server license allows up to 10 simultaneous users, regardless of the infobase.
- Single-user licenses: Specific to the machine where they are activated and can be used to open a 1C:Drive infobase in file mode.

Do I need to activate a license for each infobase on the same computer?
No, you only need to activate the 1C:Drive license once per computer. The license will be recognized for all 1C:Drive infobases on that machine.
Does transferring a 1C:Drive infobase to another computer transfer the license as well?
No, licenses are not transferred with the infobases. If 1C:Drive and 1C:Enterprise licenses are already activated on the destination computer, you can open any transferred or existing 1C:Drive infobases. Otherwise, you can deactivate the license on the source computer and then activate it on another device.
