Searching and deleting duplicates
When you automatically import or manually create a catalog item, multiple items logically referring to the same object can be accidentally created. The Search and merge duplicate items data processor is intended to find such duplicate items, determine the primary item, and delete the rest.
Specify the following in the data processor form:
Infobase object type: a catalog or an extra dimension kind.
Object name.
You can use search for duplicates in the data processor as follows:
Search for duplicates among all items.
Search for duplicates of a single item.
Before starting the search, specify the attributes that will be used for search and analysis. If you select the check box, the attribute will be used for analysis. You do not need to specify the search method for this attribute, its value will be used as a reference one. There are the following possible search methods:
By exact attribute value
By substring
Full-text search
In case of a full-text search, users can click the select button in the Search method clarification column to additionally set up the full-text search parameters.
Click Search to search for duplicates.
Click Process duplicates to open the form for further actions.
The form contains a duplicate list table. The first column displays the catalog attributes, the second column shows the sample data, the rest columns show the data of potential duplicates. Duplicate attribute values that differ from the sample are highlighted in red.
In the duplicate processing form, you can:
Change attributes of selected objects.
Override a reference item.
Transfer duplicate attribute values to the sample.
After performing the necessary actions in the table, do one of the following:
Save changed objects: changes made to the object attributes will be saved.
Perform synchronization for search options Search for duplicates for the selected reference item among all reference items and Search for duplicates among items imported from EIB. The selected catalog items that require synchronization will be synchronized with the sample.
Replace duplicates for the Search for duplicates among all reference items, Search for duplicates for all reference items among items imported from EIB, Search for duplicates for the selected reference item among all items imported from EIB search options. All links to duplicates will be searched in the infobase and replaced with a link to the sample. After that, the duplicates will be marked for deletion.
And then, duplicates are searched again in the main data processor form.
