Inventory reservation overview

<< Prev   Next >>

Inventory reservation is a process of reserving products for a certain customer's order. The reserved products are not available for sale under another order.

To able to record inventory reservations, set up the inventory reservation process. Then consider which inventory reservation scenario you need to follow.

The following table shows the supported inventory reservation scenarios and their description:

Inventory reservation scenario Description
Reserving products in stock Reserves products available in a company's warehouse.
Reserving backordered products Reserves products that need to be bought.
Reserving manufactured or disassembled products Reserves products that need to be manufactured or disassembled.

Each of these scenarios starts with a sales order (or work order) and ends with a goods issue (or sales invoice). As you create a sales order or receive a backorder, you make a reservation. As you create a goods issue or sales invoice, you clear the reservation and record the product shipment. For a quick overview of all scenario steps, see Inventory reservation scenarios.

1C:Drive also provides reports to help you monitor inventory reservations. For details, see Monitoring inventory reservations.
