Using promotional codes
Promotional code is a code that a company offers to a customer who can use it to receive a discounted price when buying the company's products.
In 1C:Drive, a promotional code is a set of numbers and letters (or other symbols) associated with an automatic discount. You can use it to automatically calculate and apply discounts to the following documents:
- Quotations
- Sales orders
- Sales invoices
- Sales slips
- Work orders
A promotional code can be associated with one or several automatic discounts. The automatic discount settings determine the products that the promotional code is valid for, its validity period and conditions.
To use promotional codes:
- Set up promotional codes.
- Create promotional codes.
- Associate promotional codes with automatic discounts.
- Optional: Check product's automatic discounts.
- Apply promotional codes to sales documents.
- Monitor automatic discounts applied to sales documents.
Setting up promotional codes
To be able to use promotional codes:
- Go to Settings > Sales.
- Under Discounts, select the Use promotional codes checkbox.
Creating promotional codes
When you decide to provide a promotional code to a customer, create the promotional code in the Promotional codes catalog. For details, see Creating promotional codes.
Before you can apply the created promotional code, you need to activate it. To do this, associate it with a discount. For details, see Associating promotional codes with automatic discounts.
Associating promotional codes with automatic discounts
Only active promotional codes can be applied to sales documents. To activate a promotional code, associate it with an active automatic discount. To do this:
- Go to Sales > Discount types.
- In the Discount types catalog, create an automatic discount.
- For the automatic discount:
- Select the Active checkbox to indicate that the discount is active and can be applied to sales documents during a validity period.
- Fill in From ...To to indicate the discount validity period. If you keep the dates blank, this means a discount is applicable on any date (on condition that the Active checkbox is selected).
- On the Filters tab, switch to Promotional codes and add a promotional code that you want to associate with the discount.
- Specify other settings for the automatic discount as you need. For details, see Creating automatic discounts.
- Click Save and close.
Now the promotional code is active and you can apply it to a sales document. For details, see Applying promotional codes to sales documents.
Checking product's automatic discounts
When you sell a product, you might want to check which automatic discounts apply to that product. You can do it in the Products catalog. Just open a product card and in the link bar, click Automatic discount. 1C:Drive will show you a list of the product's automatic discounts.
Applying promotional codes to sales documents
You can apply an active promotional code to a sales document. To learn how to activate a promotional code, see Associating promotional codes with automatic discounts.
To apply an active promotional code to a sales document:
- Create or open a sales document.
- Ensure the list of products (or services, or work items) is filled in, including quantity and price.
- Next to a link to the Prices and currency settings, click
.
- Specify a promotional code name and click OK.
1C:Drive searches for an active promotional code by the specified name. If the promotional code is found, it is populated to the Prices and currency settings. You will also see its name in the link to these settings. - Do one of the following:
- For a document other than a work order, on the Products tab, click
.
- For a work order, on the Work and services tab or Goods for sale tab, click
. Choose the tab depending on the items that the promotional code is applicable to.
- For a document other than a work order, on the Products tab, click
1C:Drive checks whether the document date and products (or work, or services) meet the conditions of the discount that the promotional code is associated with. If the conditions are met, the discount is automatically applied.
Notes:
- A discount can be applied if the document date falls in the discount validity period.
- Only one promotional code can be applied to a document.
To check the automatic discounts applied to a sales document, you can use the Applied discounts report. For details, see Monitoring automatic discounts applied to sales documents.
Monitoring automatic discounts applied to sales documents
To monitor the automatic discounts applied to a sales document (including discounts with promotional codes), use the Applied discounts report. To view it:
- Open a sales document.
- In the document's link bar, click Applied discounts.
