By-products tab
The By-products tab of a work-in-progress document contains the list of by-products to be created during production.
By-products are additional outputs of manufacturing. For example, metal shavings are by-products of the bushing production.
To learn about the By-products tab fields, see the following table:
Field | Description |
---|---|
Transfer to | A destination warehouse and, optionally, a storage bin where the by-products will be stored. Storage bin field is only available if the Inventory accounting by storage bins checkbox is selected in Settings > Purchase/Warehouse. |
Product | By-product name or short description. |
Variant | A by-product characteristic such as color or size. You can specify a variant if accounting by variants is enabled and applies to the by-product (in the by-product's product card, the Variants checkbox is selected on the Additional data tab). The variant list is based on the Product variants catalog. |
Batch | A by-product batch code. It is used to track by-products by batches. You can specify a batch if accounting by batches is enabled and applies to the by-product (in the by-product's card, the Batches checkbox is selected on the Additional data tab). |
Quantity | Quantity of by-product units that will be produced. If you import by-products from a bill of materials (BOM), Quantity is automatically calculated by the following formula: Quantity = by-product Quantity from BOM × operation Quantity from the Operations tab / operation Quantity from BOM |
Unit | A unit of measure for the by-product. It is prefilled with a base unit from the by-product card. You can specify another unit if a by-product has additional units. |
Operation | A name of operation that produces this by-product. It is only available if two or more operations are specified on the Operations tab. |
