1C:Drive license management

<< Prev

This article describes the software license protection mechanism introduced in 1C:Drive.

A commercial software license is required for a client computer to start 1C:Drive. Licenses can be obtained from your local 1C:Drive distributor.

1C:Drive licenses are perpetual. Each license is for 1, 5, 10, 25, or 50 concurrent users. You can activate several licenses if necessary (for example, if you require 17 concurrent users you can activate licenses for 10, 5, 1, and 1 user).

Note that a license only allows you to run 1C:Drive, not to install updates. To be able to update 1C:Drive to the latest version, you need to separately purchase a time-limited SMUA (Support, Maintenance, and Upgrade Assurance) subscription from your 1C:Drive distributor.

This article offers assistance on:

Obtaining license registration numbers

The registration numbers for your 1C:Drive licenses are provided by the local distributor that sold you this copy of 1C:Drive. They can be in printed form, email message, or otherwise.

If you cannot locate the license registration numbers, contact the local distributor and ask them to provide the numbers. They will send you one or several license registration numbers, each accompanied with 3 one-time PIN codes.

Retain these numbers and PIN codes as you might need them in the future.

Each time you activate or reactivate a license (for example, after making hardware changes to the computer where 1C:Drive is installed), one PIN code for this license is used. If you have used all three PIN codes and need more, contact the local distributor that sold you this copy of 1C:Drive.

Activating license registration numbers

1C:Drive requires an active license to start. If you try to start it without a license, you will be prompted to activate a license obtained from the local 1C:Drive distributor.

If you see this message, follow these steps to activate a license:

  1. Make sure that your computer has internet access.

The license activation window is displayed.

  3. In the Registration number field, enter the registration number for your license.
  4. In the PIN Code field, enter a PIN code for this license that you have not used earlier.
  5. Click Activate.
  6. Write down the PIN code you used to activate the license. You will need it if you have to reactivate the license after hardware changes.

Viewing activated licenses

The licenses currently activated for your copy of 1C:Drive are displayed in the License details list.

In this list, you can view registration numbers and SMUA expiration dates for all active licenses.

To open the list:

  1. Make sure that your computer has internet access.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Under Application settings, click Application licenses.
  4. Click License details.

Reactivating licenses

If you make any hardware changes to the computer where 1C:Drive is installed, your application licenses will be temporarily suspended and you will need to reactivate them.

When you start 1C:Drive for the first time after making a hardware change, you will be prompted to reactivate your license.

If you see this message, follow these steps to reactivate your license:

  1. Make sure that your computer has internet access.
  2. In the Old PIN Code, enter the PIN code you used to activate the license.
  3. In the New PIN Code, enter another PIN code for this license that you have not used earlier.
Note. If you have used up all PIN codes for this license, contact the local distributor that sold you this copy of 1C:Drive. They will provide you with additional PIN codes.
  4. Click Activate.

Updating 1C:Drive

Each 1:Drive license has a time-limited SMUA (Support, Maintenance, and Upgrade Assurance) subscription. While SMUA for your license is active, you are allowed to update 1C:Drive to the latest version. When SMUA expires, you can still use the application but cannot install updates. To renew SMUA, you need to pay a renewal fee to the local 1C:Drive distributor.

To manage your SMUA subscriptions, go to your 1Ci account. To learn more, see 1Ci SMUA policy.

For license protection purposes, internet access is required during the initial installation of 1C:Drive and during each version update.

You are entitled to install 1C:Drive updates that were released before the earliest SMUA expiration date of all currently active licenses.

For example, if SMUA for your 1C:Drive licenses expire on July 1, 2023, August 1, 2023, and September 1, 2023, you are entitled to install updates that were released before July 1, 2023.

To install a later update, pay a renewal fee for SMUA that expire before the release date of the update.
After paying the renewal fee and receiving confirmation from the distributor, refresh the SMUA expiration dates in the application. To do it:

  1. Make sure that your computer has internet access.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Under Application settings, click Application licenses.
  4. Click License details.
  5. Click refresh.png.

In the above example, if you renew the first license, you are now entitled to install updates released up to August 1, 2023.

If you install an update that was released after SMUA expiration date for any of your licenses, this update is unauthorized. Every time you start 1C:Drive with an unauthorized update, you will be prompted to pay a renewal fee.
